ATS Garage Toy Drive

Not the biggest show, but Toy Drives are always a worth while cause. While the AE86 didn’t have anything new done to it, this was a great place to take Jamie’s AE82 FX16 GTS out to show. It made more than a few people do the walk back and forth looking at the differences between the FWD vs RWD 4AGE.  Although its not quite a fair comparison since we’ve upgraded the FX to the Small Port version of the 4AGE.…

Shukai 2016

I’ve been to Shukai as a spectator in the past but this usually its been a quick trip in and out do to conflicting events of some form or another.   This time showing a car and shooting pics for Bay Area Auto Scene wasn’t enough.  I decided to that Auto Scene should sponsor a sorta peoples choice award.  This meant getting the car there and parked quickly so I could shoot some photos to post for the peoples choice…

Japanese Classic Car Show

JCCS.  Not the cars first year in attendance, but obviously the first year I have taken the 86 down for this.  If you read the last post, then you know there was more than a bit of work that happened recently.  Well that wasn’t finished up until the Thursday before we were supposed to leave.  With only a single trip around the block on the freshly assembled differential, I decided not to risk driving it down this time…. just in case.  …

The Little Car Show

I’ve been going to car week in some fashion since I first moved to the Bay Area.  A good portion of these shows cater to mega dollar cars that are well out of my budget. Out of the remaining shows most of them cater to early era cars which aren’t really in the realm of what I own either.  Then there is The Little Car Show.  This show is put on by the folks at Marina Motorsports and the best way…

86 Fest At Auto Club Speedway in Fontana CA

Wow this one was a bit of an adventure.  This story actually starts a couple of weeks prior to the event with a text from Toyo Tires asking if I was planning on attending.  At that point I wasn’t.  I was still hoping for a combination of the 86 Drive event locally followed by the Slide your ride event.  With the cancellation of the Slide Your Ride event and the offer to put the car in the Toyo booth,…

July Old School Meet in Santa Clara

Back in the day when Toyota still sold cool cars like the AE86 on the lot, and hachi parts were plentiful, digital cameras didn’t exist so it’s only fitting to have a few film shots of the Corolla to share.  While I own several film cameras, I can never seem to find the time to do much with them.   This set is courtesy of Gerard (Jerry) Jacquez aka @Baystar.Photography on Instagram.  Kinda makes me want to grab some film…

Wekfest San Jose

Wekfest San Jose, This was a couple weeks ago and a lot has happened since then so lets see what I can remember. I’ve been at Wekfest the past 3 years in one way or another as a photographer, but this was my first year competing for anything. The good thing about WekFest is the show is huge and you get to meet a lot of new people and have the chance to check out a lot of other peoples…

The Hachi at HIN

Back on June 18th, we took the AE86 down to the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds for Hot Import Nights San Jose. I’ve given enough of a personal review on the show in the Bay Area Auto Scene coverage, so I won’t get into that again.   I haven’t changed too much since the last event other than the new Raybrig headlights.  I couldn’t do a HIN show with stock lights could I? The day before the show I spent the better part…

Toyotafest 2016

I’ve been going to Toyotafest since I first started my move to California.   When I was in the process of moving out from the midwest I brought my IS300 out at the perfect time to check out Toyotafest and drop the car off at the shop I was going to be working at.  I then bought a Camry to drive back and flip.  9 Years later I finally have a car I felt should be shown.  Of course the car…

5th Annual Cars Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center

It was a bit last minute but I received a message (under Bay Area Auto Scene) from one of the organizers for this show asking to help promote that they were looking to fill out the “import side” of the show a bit more.  I offered to repost there info as well as to bring out the Corolla to show. The shop was a disaster so it was going to just be nice to send the AE86 off on…
