My life has been through the equivalent of a wet sock thrown in a dryer for the last 6 months or so. I’ve made it out to a couple of shows, but nothing like we have in the past. Wekfest kinda snuck up on me and I didn’t send out an email requesting media access until a few days before the actual event, so I wasn’t surprised when I never saw a return email.
I was still a little curious and since I’m back to living with in walking distance of the show, I walked over during the roll in process. Plenty of cool cars in line, and if I’m honest a few that fell into “not in a million years” category. I was a little disappointed to see cars blocking business and hotel driveways, but I walked away with a good vibe and was planning to make the trip back on Sunday for the show itself.
Sunday rolled around and we made the walk over about an hour after doors open. Watching some of the other attendees cut through traffic on rental scooters with no regard to pedestrians or cars (that had the right of way) and try to bunny hop cones in front of the convention center made it hard to want to walk in and be associated with this crowd.
Seeing the size of the line to get in, meant we walked through enough to snap those photos and made our way back out. Someone remind me to put in that media request a little earlier next year.
